Mission statement
Mothershare offers a vital and important not for profit service to vulnerable families in Calderdale. We have been building our service up for over 9 years and it’s based on our own experience, knowledge and situations.
Mothershare’s mission is to provide vulnerable children and families with a range of important items that can make the difference between having something and nothing. From buggies to beds, cots to cradles, baby gates to bouncers, toys to t-shirts and much, much more.
We offer this free support because we believe every child deserves the best start in life, but we recognise that sometimes, some children and families need a bit of extra support and help.
That’s why we at Mothershare are passionate about helping Calderdale families in need.
Why choose Mothershare?
Mothershare has been operating since 2014. We have a dedicated team who have established links with professional agencies, other charities and community groups to be able to provide a high-quality prompt service.
Because of you…
We improved the lives of thousands of vulnerable and disadvantaged children across Calderdale.
Your support means so much to us and the families we support.
What We Offer
Commitment
We are committed to easing child poverty in Calderdale by providing the basic essentials that families desperately need to care for their families.
Donations
We receive donations from both the public and corporate bodies. These are then organised and checked to be donated back to families in need through our referral service. We try to reduce land fill and waste by donating unrequired or unusable items back to other organisations such as RSPCA, The Forget Me Not Trust and Yorkshire Children’s Trust.
Sales
We have a selection of good quality, new, used and designer baby equipment, clothing and toys for sale at affordable prices. This allows families on low income who would not normally be able to access our service to provide for their children. The funds raised from these sales help us to continue offering this service by helping to cover our overheads such as rent and staffing. Items can be purchased through our e-shop or at our sale days (see events).
Volunteering
Our service relies heavily on volunteers. These dedicated individuals have created a friendly work force that are the backbone of what we do. We are always recruiting individuals to join us in a variety of roles including, stock room assistants, fundraisers, trustees and drivers. We are privileged to work with corporate teams who join us on their Make a Difference days. Please contact us for more information on joining our team.
Our Projects
We Believe in Birthdays
We believe every child should be able to celebrate their birthday and have created a birthday box that includes, a card, balloons, banners and sweets as well as a gift. We will where possible also include a cake.
Christmas Toy Appeal
Our previous toy appeals have had a phenomenal response and we have been able to provide over 400 children with a Christmas Eve box including a book, toy, sweets and where possible nightwear. They also received a significant gift to unwrap on Christmas day.
